Structure and Content
In general, MBA programs are structured around core courses (an essentially standard curriculum) and elective courses that allow for a subject specialty Thus, in the program's first year , students acquire both a working knowledge of management functions and the analytical skills required for these. After the first year, students seek internships which is a summer training of 8 weeks duration . In the second year , students pursue elective courses, which may count towards a specialization. The degree culminates with coursework ,dissertation a major project.
Programs are designed such that students gain exposure to theory and practice alike. Courses include lectures, case studies, and team projects. Theory is covered in the classroom setting by academic faculty, and is reinforced through the case studies, placing the student in the role of the decision maker. Practical learning (field immersion) often comprises consulting projectswith real clients, and is generally undertaken in teams. The practical elements (as well as the case studies) often involve external practitioners—sometimes business executives—supporting the teaching from academic faculty.
Scope of Master of Business Administration degree
The value of the MBA is not limited strictly to the business world. An MBA can also be useful for those pursuing a managerial career in the public sector, government, private industry, and other areas.
One of the most common reasons for doing an MBA is that, for many people, it can lead to the next step in their careers. Sometimes, after working for a certain amount of time, people find that they’ve reached a certain level in their careers, and they need something else to get to management-level positions. An MBA can add specific business skills to your toolkit, such as leadership or strategic thinking, that will be good firepower when applying for management-level positions or promotions.
